In 2019, the ship was deployed on the US West Coast for Columbia and Snake river cruises. Our experience on American Cruise Line’s ship the American Song was a wonderful experience. The scenery of mountains, as well as seeing the Columbia and Snake Rivers was beautiful and at times breath-taking. We enjoyed waking up to sit out on our deck each morning to watch the sun rise as the world came alive. Each day, being lovers of history, we discussed, planned, and looked forward to our daily shore excursions, both planned and unplanned. The ship is powered by 2x Caterpillar marine engines running on low-sulfur diesel. These modern engines require less fuel and produce fewer emissions (COx, NOx, SOx) and soot particles in comparison to other boats on the US river cruising market.

Your ship will provide you with a list of all the locally-sourced ingredients when you unpack. The vessel was launched on November 17, 2017, which was 7 weeks ahead of schedule. The ceremony was held at the Chesapeake Shipbuilding yard in Salisbury MA. During the launch, the hull was floated-out from drydock into Wicomico River. Then it was positioned in the shipyard's East Outfitting Basin to receive the superstructure (upper decks) and outfitting.
The ramp has an innovative design being constructed as a retractable gangway (passenger bridge). The technology is often implemented on some of the largest ferries and features an opening bow door. All staterooms feature a private, step-out balcony accessible from the living area via a sliding, floor-ceiling glass door. Each of the Grand Suites features 2 walls of floor-ceiling windows and sliding doors opening to a wraparound balcony. The veranda is also fitted with a separate dining area, Each Grand Suite has a separate bedroom/living area and marble bathroom (with a double-sink vanity).
